Recent Outages - What's Happening
On Saturday, 3rd October, the main project server was hit by an attack which took the server down for several hours. This did not affect the servers which host the Mambo Code forge (http://mambo-code.org/) or the Mambo Manual wiki (http://mambo-manual.org/).
Earlier today the main server once again came under attack, this time resulting in a rogue JavaScript being added to the index page of http://mambo-foundation.org (http://mambo-foundation.org/). This is a static HTML page which acts as the splashpage/gateway into the Mambo project sites.
The script has been removed and Google has been asked to remove their site blocker, which...

2009 Mambo Community Survey
Mambo has never before conducted a survey of the Mambo community and users. In 2004, a 3rd party survey was undertaken which provided valuable information for the future development of the software. With the increase in documentation the project is seeing a decrease in the number of people on the forums. This means that the project developers cannot rely on obtaining enough information about what the community wants, from forum discussions alone. As a result, we have the 2009 Mambo Community Survey.
The survey is comprehensive and will give the Mambo team some really solid information with which to...

Mambo Goes PHP 5
For the past year, the Mambo team has been discussing the PHP requirements for future releases of Mambo. Mambo currently supports both PHP4 and PHP5 however since Mambo 4.6.0 we have included features that are only available to people running their sites on PHP5. Maintaining compatibility for both versions of PHP has hampered Mambo development so we embarked on a period of research and investigation into the most appropriate time to drop support for PHP 4.
